New Voters Will Decide the Kavanaugh/Caravan 201 Midterm Election

If you’ve never voted your vote (or non vote) is the one that will decide the Kavanaugh/Caravan 2018 Midterm Election. You will never have more power to Change the world.

Last year, against my own better judgement, I underwent elective surgery and was subsequently in short order diagnosed w/hospital acquired double pneumonia which ultimately resulted in being hospitalized for more than half the year, if you include the last stretch of Home Healthcare Nurses — during which I was under house arrest for all practical purposes. But don’t get me wrong here, I was so very fortunate not to mention grateful — having negotiated the Home Healthcare program in lieu of yet another Transitional Care Unit. As it turns out *grandma* knows best because the BEST medicine EVER is home sweet home and sunshine. I am now known to my doctors as an ARDS survivor and while nobody including my doctors seem to know what that is, I have no issue w/the “survivor” part!

All this by way of context for my ObamaCare story: I have two health care policies for which I have been paying around $300/month. Since I was admitted to the hospital April 4th 2017 I met my deductible — which isn’t exhorbitantly high — at somewhere around $2500. for both policies. After that my insurance covered every last penny of the whole ordeal — and I was afforded ridiculously over the top medical care. Apparently the “death panels” were on holiday😱

Then earlier this year I started getting letters from Blue Cross saying my policy was going away and I needed to find something else if I wished to maintain the same level of coverage. Yes, please, I wished to maintain the same level of coverage. So I had this sick feeling of dread most of the year waiting for the other shoe to drop, underlying the horror of watching Putin — standing shoulder to metamorphical shoulder w/our own President Trump — declare the United States had eaten all of its olives and was no longer a super power.

Finally, last Friday, I braved the labyrinth of healthcare insurance jobs created by the HMO era. Once I got to the right job recipient aka Provider Representative, it was all over in a manner of minutes. My “cost plan” would be rolled into my primary policy, providing the same benefit PLUS an 80/20 dental plan for a premium of $167. I’m still giddy w/delight.

The Affordable Care Act/ACA, was derisively dubbed “ObamaCare” by the Tea Party, in an attempt to smear his legacy— only to be embraced by the Obama Administration itself, assured of its veracity. #IsntItIronic After all, the vision would birth 20 million people with healthcare insurance almost immediately.

Furthermore, if we did nothing to screw it up — say like let politics get in the way of progress — it would change the trajectory of the three decade long great American rip off in favor of the great American worker bees .

The Affordable Care Act/ACA (now known through no effort of its namesake as ObamaCare) has begun working. Good things come to visionary efforts embraced by those putting country over political convenience. The book of Matthew in the Christian Bible puts it another way: Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Matthew 7:15–20 New King James Version (NKJV)

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits

“15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? }17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

It is, as VP Joe Biden standing behind the President as he signed the right to healthcare into law, proclaimed in a hot mic moment:

This. is A Big Fucking Deal.

Biden’s unfiltered self assurance was the rung I hung onto while Big Corp continued deploying their best brightest most ambitious — not too mention heavily armed w/gold bars , misinformation, and social media bots oh my— lobbyists charged w/tearing the ACA to shreds in the pysche of their cash cow, the American people.

So now its Fall in America and ObamaCare blooms, just in time for the “Kavanaugh-Caravan-Midterm-Elections” and self proclaimed referendum on the Donald J Trump Administration and his teeny tiny base — 30% of the country, as promised. Despite the 24 hour news cycle which continues airing free Trump bites ad nauseam, calling one Senator who happens to be a Black Woman, “low IQ” and another White Woman w/whom he was intimate “horseface” as if he were the shock jock Howard Stern instead of POTUS, most of US are decent people living decent lives w/decent dreams of a more perfect union.

Now can we all do the happy dance?

It took a few years to roll it out because it was built on a solid foundation and a solid foundation takes time, not to mention consideration of design. Unfortunately such visionary yet critical root cause policy making always takes more time than an election cycle affords. Just as the Obama Administration from the beginning projected, it would take the better part of a decade to unpack — political expediency not withstanding.

Such courage takes the “Audacity of Hope” and self confidence rarely afforded in Washington DC these days. Fortunately for 20 million Americans and many times that to come, Obama was willing to weather the storm as prices continued climbing over the next eight years. It was painful listening to stories of frustrated voters hopping on the ‘repeal and replace’ bandwagon — even tho everyone knows there’s nothing: NOTHING w/which to replace the repeal that could ensure the purchase power of pre existing conditions…defined on a whim only to be redefined on another at any given time. How convenient…but hey, when it’s the only world you’ve ever known…

Boomers, especially, I think, had become somewhat immune to the rising-premiums-for-less-coverage/higher-deductibles game. A plethora of “insurance” companies (in extraordinarily beautiful office space) started popping up everywhere you looked after Nixon introduced “HMOs” and the American population went into a free fall seeing healthcare costs rise…in the name of “insurance.” It was best not to think about much less voice how those rising premiums failed to translate into bigger paydays for all those jobs HMOs would create during the same period, while the executives raked in the lions share of profiting from sick people.

So it’s been that way for my entire adulthood — which gets longer every year, go figure. And if that’s all you know, all you’ve ever known, you may complain but you also come to a place of acceptance, apathetically inured to the war of giants. It costs a lot of money to be an American and “insurance” policies that literally then hold your life in their hands w/Big Profit actually playing the part of Sarah Palin’s death panels. Healthcare is now an accepted price we pay for a big chunk of the American Dream. For those of us in middle America fortunate enough to be healthy enough to purchase healthcare insurance that price is often bigger than a car payment and all too often more than a mortgage.

This last caveat here is for people who have never voted. You are the ones we need now. Right now. More than ever. McConnell, still high on the adrenaline rush he got from seating a bad drunk — a pathological liar mirroring Mr. Trump himself — on the Supreme Court, now tells us it’s time to take a look at cutting back those entitlement programs. You know, the ones we pay for ourselves in advance w/those monies automatically taken out of our paychecks. Now that Trump and company billionaires got their tax cuts, they are worried about the deficit again. And even though the deficit is not in anyway impacted by Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid — it won’t be long before you believe otherwise…or if not, you will know best to keep your mouth shut because there will be no one left standing up for US. Now pretend this is a football game and go VOTE, please.

It’s a Big Fucking Deal.

Believe me.
